Hey guys, I have a small lake/large pond in my backyard and was wediornng if it would be feasible to take 2 old Sunfish Hulls, build a pvc greenhouse frame over them and use the water straight from the pond for a now Floating Greenhouse? I believe these boats have a foam inside and won't sink beyond a point. And, the body of water is over 80yrs old with a underground spring supplying so it has a established ecosystem already. Hoping a floating water filter will allow for a denser fish ratio.

it is indeed a great tafeure. I used it in my latest poll where i wanted people to vote for the nicest picture. I thought it would minimize the amount of people voting only for their friend. However, since it is still possible to vote only for one, this tafeure in my opinion still needs one improvement:limit the number of choices and make it a MUST to vote for that number.

Hello I am a Canadian from the west coast, but live in Baja Sur for most of the year. I am also an aquaculture oloibgist with over 30 years of experience in that field. I am very interested in helping Mexican families (and gringos) living my area to produce their own fish and food in their backyards and also to install some larger systems so that some of these families can sell their excess production to generate additional income. Many of these people (including me) live off the grid, so we will need to use solar as our primary source of power in those particular areas. I am hoping that you can help me with sizing, costing and production issues that may help me to move forward with the project. No doubt, you scalable component systems would ideal for this type of application.I look forward to hearing from you.Sincerely Clayton Brenton

Oct01Miguel Rodrigues I plan on having snhmteiog like that but not so advanced and not so expensive also, just to control: 1. water temperature, 2. pH and ammonia and 3. having an electric backup as well as having every device running 24/7 on solar panels.1. Water TemperatureKnowing that i need the water at 20baC i will have a simple aquarium heater ($10 to $20) that will turn on at 19baC and stop at 20baC, wen the water goes to more that 20baC i plan on having a simple setup with an arduino ($1 to $20), a temperature probe ($?) and 2 fans ($10) that i will configure to turn on the fans at 21baC and stop at 20baC.2. pH and AmmoniaI want to know (constantly) the pH and ammonia on the water at a low cost, for that i found a device that give me constant information about this both stats on the water. Just search ebay with the words pH alert ($10). 3. Electric BackupI want to use solar panels to power my pumps 24/7 and use the grid only for backup. For that i will use some car batteries, some solar panels, a solar controller, an inverter and to switch automatically from batteries to the grid ill use a relay. Prices for those will depend on what energy you need and if you can make or not your own solar panels, if you can you know it will be much cheaper. The fish feeder and the time switch for the pump are also cheap, about $10 each. All of these will need some testing but i think will solve most of those problems at a LOW COST and with SIMPLE KNOWLEDGE. The prices are always for ebay items (excluding shipping) just because its the place were i can find the best prices in my case.Best Regards and be Creative

May27 Dear Mr. Hallam,I plan to deploy Aquaponics on my idoonr fish farm as a means to filter out ammonia from the fish water. I deploy big fish tanks of 40 m3 of water each. I need to calculate the optimum plant population as well as hydroton quantity to achieve perfect filtering of this water quantity. Is there a proven analogy (i.e., plant population and/or hydroton quantity to fish water quantity) that ensures a well-balanced nitrogen cycle? Also, water recirculation is a continuous process or a repeated process (say 3-4 times per day)? If the latter is true, what is the filtration frequency?Your assistance would be invaluable. Thanks in advance. With Regards,George Angelou
